Meet the Team
![]() | Steve Barrell I started my working life in the early 70's at Martins Garage in Guildford as an apprentice mechanic working on prestige cars such as Rolls Royce, Bentley and Alvis and other makes and models. I then went on to work in Aldershot as a motorcycle mechanic. I have always been interested in motorcycles since a young teenager and I have refurbished quite a few over the years. My present project is a Kawasaki ZL 1000, which has been modified into a fast shaft-driven street machine. While working, I have also persued a motor racing passion, where for about 3 years I raced a BMW 7 Series in the 'Slick 50's' saloon car racing. I accrued a couple of pole positions and ran in the top six - but unfortunately a win eluded me. I have also been in the transport industry for some years as an owner driver. This took me extensively around Europe and the UK. I am currently building a classic Ford Escort, powered by a V6 Essex engine - which we have adapted to run on twin carburettors with a few other goodies which we are hoping to show and race in the near future - so watch this space! |
Dan Barrell I'm the eldest of Steve's 6 sons. In the summer of 2006 Dad and I decided to combine our efforts, experience and started DSB Mechanical Services. My main interests are making cars go fast and look good! I'm qualified to work on light and heavy vehicles; I have 15 B-Tecs in vehicle engineering and management, and NVQ levels 1, 2 and 3 in HGV and car mechanics. I enjoy socialising with my family and friends and am also keen on paint-balling and used to compete regularly as part of a team. | ![]() |

![]() | Richard Buttle I have known the Barrel family for a many years now and when I found out Dan and Steve had started DSB Mechanical Services, I decided to take my car to them as everyone else had failed to fix it, While they had the car they told me the parts needed, so I set out finding them at the best price possible, Dan thought that my knowledge of the internet would come in handy at the garage so asked me to join them, Hence Im here now and my Nissan 300zx is becoming one of our promo cars (please click on the see my car tab below my picture) I'm able to find any part needed for the best price possible which helps to keep our prices lower than the competition!!! As for myself, I have always had a passion for cars ever since I was a child due to my fathers hobby of rebuilding them, I used to go down the garage with him every weekend and watch him work, from there my love for cars grow in a very big way which helped me to get an NVQ lv2 in engineering. (thanks dad) |
